It should not come as much of a surprise that London has a lighthouse given that London formerly had a significant port; nevertheless, the lighthouse in London is not your typical lighthouse used for directing ships, as you will see in the following paragraphs. The only lighthouse that remains is the one at Trinity Buoy Wharf; however, it is no longer in function and is instead put to use for various artistic and cultural endeavours.
Trinity Buoy Lighthouse is the official name of the lighthouse, and it is currently open to the public. If you go up to the top of the lighthouse, you will get an interesting perspective of the Thames. You will also have the opportunity during the weekend to hear about Longplayer, a musical work that began on January 1, 2000 and is intended to continue playing for one thousand years.

This section of the harbour was mostly utilised to repair ships that were not extremely large, therefore the activity level was quite low. In point of fact, the lighthouse was used for research and development purposes more than anything else. Experiments were conducted with light, and “lighthouse keepers” were even sent to other locations with genuine, operational lights to get practical experience.
This relic dates back to 1864 and was utilised by Michael Faraday for the sake of his research. There were originally two lights located in this location, but the first one was destroyed over the course of 20 years. The Faraday Effect, which is located right next to the lighthouse, is now the smallest museum in all of London.
During the 1980s, the majority of the port of London was shut down, including the pier. A private firm purchased the pier in 1996 together with the structures on it, including our lighthouse, and turned it into a cultural area after transforming it.
In addition to the many items that may be observed, you will also find the American restaurant Fat Boy’s Diner, which appears to have been taken straight from an episode of Happy Days, as well as the Bow Creek Cafe, which serves handmade meals as well as cakes.
You will also be able to view a number of sculptures and other peculiarities if you attend, and there is a street art trail that you should definitely check out.
