Almost seventy-five years ago, Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II collaborated to create the first American musical to bear the title Oklahoma! Curly McLain, a braggart cowboy, and Jud Fry, a stoic miller, are the protagonists of this tale. Both of them are drawn to Laurey Williams, a stunning woman who is reserved. Both of them are vying to attend a party that Laurey has invited. The framework of the updated version of Oklahoma! is largely the same as the previous production, but the way Fish narrates the show entirely inverts the original clichés. Without altering a single word of the original text, the show has shifted its focus from the traditional love story between a boy and a girl to more contemporary topics such as sexism, consent, sensuality, sexuality, and even gun violence.
