There London Underground, known as the Tube, has the most expensive fares of any underground system in the world, according to research by Transport for London.
A study comparing TfL with 39 other global cities revealed that the price passengers pay per kilometer traveled is the highest in the UK capital.
This research came before Mayor Sadiq Khan raised Tube and bus fares by an average of 5.9% recently, the biggest increase in a decade. New data would be even worse.
The research found that the average fare cost of the Tube is around 35 US cents (29p) per kilometre, more than double the 15 cent average in other cities around the world. In short, when someone complains that the London Underground costs so much, they are certainly not entirely wrong.
