Jennifer Keys (née Keys) is an American singer-songwriter and actress who was born on January 25, 1981 in Los Angeles, California. Having studied classical piano, Keys began composing songs at the age of 12 and was signed to Columbia Records when she was 15 years old.
The worldwide music community embraced her at the age of 20, and she has been an important fixture on the international music scene to this day. Songs In A Minor, her debut studio album, was released in June 2001 and debuted at the top of the Billboard 200 list. She has since released two more studio albums. Likewise, the album’s debut song, Fallin’, spent six weeks at the top of the Billboard 100 singles chart, with the album’s follow-up single, A Woman’s Worth, reaching the No.3 spot.
It was released in 2003 and has now been certified quadruple platinum. The Diary Of Alicia Keys is Keys’ second studio album. This was followed in 2005 by her Unplugged album, which not only debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard charts, but also sold almost 200,000 copies in its first week of release, according to the label.
Following that, in 2007, Keys released her third studio album, As I Am. Her fourth, The Element Of Freedom, was released in 2009, and it became Keys’ first number one album in the United Kingdom. Upon the release of Girl On Fire in 2012 and Here in 2016, she became the first female artist to have two consecutive number-one albums on the Billboard 200.
There are other film and television credits to her name as well, including multiple seasons as a coach on the hit show The Voice. Being a powerful force in the world of charity, she is involved in the battle against AIDS and racial injustice, and she is also an advocate for women’s rights and child protection.
Keys will release More Myself on March 31, 2020. This introspective book, which is part autobiography and half narrative documentary, explores the author’s life experiences and how she came to accept herself as she is.
A special Unstaged livestream performance was held to commemorate the release of her seventh studio album, ALICIA, which includes the critically acclaimed singles Underdog and Show Me Love. Her seventh studio album, ALICIA, was released on September 18, 2020, and she celebrated with a special Unstaged livestream performance.
Ahead of her long-awaited comeback tour with ALICIA, Keys had planned to embark on the UK portion of the tour in 2020, however she has now delayed the leg to June 2022.
