You can walk from the US to Russia in a couple of hours

The Bering Strait, the strait that connects North America and Eurasia, comes to mind. True, Native American populations did pursue this journey from Asia to North America long ago.

The trouble is, there is a little archipelago in the Bering Strait, whose two major islands are owned by Russia and the USA.

The Diomede Islands are located in the Bering Strait, between the Chukchi and Bering Seas.

Due to the local time zones, Big Diomede is only 21 hours ahead of Little Diomede due to the International Date Line.

The two islands are just 3.8 km apart, and the sea regularly freezes over in the winter, allowing people to travel between them. Possible but unlawful, don’t even think about it, you’ll get arrested.
